In editing your manuscript,  I will focus on both the detailed elements, like grammar, spelling, and punctuation, as well as broader conceptual aspects such as plot, consistency, and overall cohesion. My educational background, publishing credentials, and experience as the poetry editor of a literary magazine and the nonfiction editor of a university academic journal provide a literary edge to my editing style. Consider me for creative manuscripts, such as novels, short stories, plays, and screenplays, as well as academic writing, such as essays, articles, and dissertations. Quite simply, my goal is to help things flow as tightly as possible, while maintaining your distinct authorial voice and intent.

Rates vary from $1.00 - $3.00 per 250 word page, depending on manuscript length, deadline requirements, and level of attention required. Email me the first few pages of your manuscript for a free sample edit, and if you are pleased we can work out the details from there. I accept payment (50% in advance) by PayPal, check, or money order.

"For my Fulbright grant application for postdoctoral research in Switzerland, Scott did a superb job editing both my personal statement and research proposal. Beyond correcting grammatical errors, he made helpful suggestions about word choice and content, which significantly strengthened the quality of my application."

"Scott's decisive editing of my personal statement for a Benjamin Gilman International Scholarship (to support my literature studies in Paris) helped give the essay a stronger sense of direction, and his suggestions provided the added clarity it needed to stand out among a competitive pool of applicants."

--Pepe Etxeberri, Literature Student, Seattle Central Community College

"Scott has been invaluable to me not only in editing my short stories and poetry, but also as someone who sees a writer's true intent and can help them say what they really want to say most effectively.
